BuzzCloud Vega ("Vega," "we," "us") is a self-hosted AI assistant, independently built and operated by one person as part of the BuzzCloud project. It is not a company or a commercial data platform. This policy explains, plainly and specifically, what Vega collects, why, and how you can delete it.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account or use Vega, we collect:
- Account information: the email address you sign up with (via Firebase Authentication). You may also use Vega anonymously without an account, in which case no email is collected.
- Profile information you choose to provide: your name, birthday, and any free-text context you give during onboarding (e.g. "I'm a nurse working night shifts"). All of this is optional.
- Conversations: the messages you send and the responses you receive, stored so your chat history persists across sessions.
- Memory items: short facts Vega has been told to remember about you — either because it decided a fact was worth keeping, or because you added it yourself. These are stored separately from your chat history and are fully visible and deletable by you at any time.
- Usage data: a running count of tokens used per day, used only to enforce daily usage limits, plus basic technical metadata (timestamps, which model handled a request).
- Uploaded images, if you attach one to a message, for the purpose of generating a response.
We do not run analytics or tracking scripts of any kind. Vega's Firebase configuration includes an unused analytics identifier left over from project setup, but the corresponding SDK is never loaded — no usage analytics are collected, and none are sold or shared with advertisers, because none exist.
2. How Information Is Used
- To generate responses to your messages, including using saved memory items and profile context to personalize replies.
- To enforce daily usage limits and, where applicable, model-tier access.
- To keep your conversation history available to you across devices and sessions.
- To operate and maintain the service (e.g. diagnosing errors from logs).
We do not use your conversations to train any model, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Where Your Data Lives
Your account, conversations, memory items, and profile are stored in Firebase (a Google Cloud service) under your own user record, and are read and written directly by your browser — there is no separate company database holding a copy of your data beyond Firebase itself. Messages you send are also relayed to a language model (a self-hosted, locally-run model by default, or an optional cloud-hosted model for higher usage tiers) purely to generate a response; the model provider does not receive your account email or identity, only the message content necessary to respond.
One narrow exception: if you send a message and close the tab before the reply finishes, the server temporarily buffers that single exchange (in memory and in a local file on the host machine) just long enough to hand it back to your account the next time you're active. It is deleted from that buffer once your device has saved it normally.
4. Third-Party Services
- Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication and data storage.
- Self-hosted or cloud-hosted language models (Ollama) — process message content to generate responses.
- Connectors (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive) — planned integrations. As of this policy's effective date, none of these are functional; connecting an account is not yet possible, and no data is read from any external Google account through Vega.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or data-broker services.
5. Data Retention & Your Ability to Delete It
Your data is retained until you delete it. Nothing is automatically deleted or trimmed on your behalf without your action:
- Delete a single conversation — via the trash icon in the chat sidebar (this now asks you to confirm before deleting, since it's permanent).
- Delete a memory item — individually or in bulk, via the Memory Manager.
- Delete your account entirely — from account settings, which permanently removes all of your chats, messages, memory items, and profile data, along with your authentication record.
Separately, Vega has a "Compact" feature that summarizes older parts of a long conversation to reduce how much text is sent to the model — this only changes what the model sees going forward and never deletes or alters your saved chat history, and (like account and chat deletion) now requires you to confirm before it runs.
6. Children's Privacy
Vega is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the information below and we will delete it.
7. Security
Data is stored via Firebase's standard authentication and access-control mechanisms, scoped so that only your own signed-in account can read or write your data. As with any online service, no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Vega changes. Material changes will update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of Vega after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
